Who owns your VPN?
A different logo doesn’t always mean a different company. Several of the best-known VPN brands belong to the same groups, which matters if you pick a second VPN to spread the risk or simply want to know who you’re trusting with your traffic.
Groups with several VPN brands
Gen Digital 4 brands
Kape Technologies 3 brands
Nord Security 2 brands
Ziff Davis 2 brands
Malwarebytes 2 brands
Why it matters
If you use two VPNs to avoid putting all your trust in one company, two brands from the same group don’t really achieve that. Their apps, servers and jurisdictions may differ, but the ultimate owner is the same.
Ownership also explains why some services feel alike: shared infrastructure, similar pricing and the same affiliate networks. It’s not a reason to avoid a brand, just one more thing to know before you decide.
