VPNs with an independent audit
Every VPN says it keeps no logs. An audit is how you check: an outside firm looks at servers, configuration or code and publishes what it found.
An audit is a snapshot of a particular scope at a particular time, not a lifetime guarantee. Still, a provider that lets someone else look under the bonnet deserves more trust than one that only writes “no logs” on its homepage.
